Anyone watch the X Factor?

Well I actually don't like the show. I find the judges and all the fake sentimentality rather irritating. However, I do like to tune in to watch the acts sometimes and well, you could have pushed me over with a feather - they have someone genuinely amazing on this year!!!

Seriously, Diana Vickers - OMG!! What a performance! She's only 17 and has only sung at school and stuff before, but she did this on the first live show...

So beautiful. *sob*

OMG yes! I haven't watched this show at all this year - generally only ever see about one ep per season lol - but I caught the repeat show last Sunday and this lass was singing Hallelujah and I actually stopped and sat down to watch her. Then again, she is a style of singer I love.

Another fan! YAY! Seriously, I was watching the repeat last night like - boring, boring, predictable, ok...

OMG!!!

And you know I don't think I've seen a singer with her kind of style before. I tend to mainly listen to chart music and there's nothing like her within the realms of pop.

Except...maybe Duffy. Not that similar, but they both have rather distinctive voices, and a pretty cool style.

She reminds me somewhat of Alanis Morrissette crossed with Sandi Thom. Or Fiona Apple or Heather Nova.

Heather Nova song (tried to find a clip of her singing it, but I could only find it put to fan vids):

That's a gorge song!

I'll check out all of those artists. A few weeks ago actually I was saying to a friend of mine I'd like to hear some more, I don't know, 'soulful' music. Something with real feeling in and so she lent me some Alanis Morrissette albums as well as Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan, and err, someone else I think. I've only properly listened to Sarah McLachlan so far (as I loved her stuff straight away) though maybe they all could be considered a similar sort of style.
